Elenasy CIC, which already runs LEGO and board games sessions for young people here on Darwin Green, has been awarded a Sport England grant to bring table tennis to the community.

The grant covers a permanent outdoor table and two portable tables for indoor sessions. Conversations are ongoing between the Council and Barratt about where the outdoor table will be sited, so watch this space for more information.

The two portable indoor tables will be available in the meantime: one aimed at getting adults moving, and another at giving teenagers something to do that isn’t a screen.

The initiative came out of conversations between residents, with interest picked up through the Friendly Neighbours WhatsApp group, so it’s fair to say this one came from the community itself. Weekly sessions are planned to start in May. Get ready!
