Taking good care of the youngest residents

Local schools

It is a parents or carers’ responsibility to make an application for a school place for their child and it’s recommended to do this as early as possible.

The School Admissions team at Cambridgeshire County Council manages school places in Cambridgeshire and deal with applications for places in all school year groups, apart from sixth forms and colleges.

Darwin Green is located in Mayfield Primary School’s catchment area.

Local secondary schools include:

Darwin Green is located in Chesterton Community College’s catchement area.

In Darwin Green

A primary school is supposed to be built in Darwin Green 1, although this has not been confirmed yet.

Plans for a secondary school have been confirmed for Darwin Green 2 & 3. It should open in 2028, at the earliest.

Childcare and early learning

Cambridgeshire County Council provides information, advice and guidance to families across Cambridgeshire including information on childcare and early learning pre-school age. Further information is available on the page for Child and Family Centres. There is also a Facebook page for these groups.

The Cambridgeshire Childcare Directory is a useful source of information where you will be able to find local childcare providers.

Teddington is a baby and toddler group meeting on Tuesdays from 10 am to 11.30 am, at Storey’s Field Centre in Eddington.

Under Fives Roundabout Toddler Playgroup meets on Tuesdays and Fridays during term-time between 9:15 am and 11:30 am at Mayfield Primary School.

Adult education and learning

Cambridgeshire Skills offer a wide variety of courses and learning options for adults including English, maths, working with young people, or gardening.

Adult Learn and Train also offer courses at local venues.
